Greg Eiesland is a founding attorney in the Johnson, Eiesland & Rohl, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Over the years, Greg has been involved in many of the most important and cutting-edge cases in the State of South Dakota. His case of National Bank of South Dakota v. Lier, et al. struck down sovereign immunity for the State of South Dakota since statehood. After that decision, State employees could no longer harm people without being accountable for the damage they caused. His case of Flockhart v. Wyant established the law in South Dakota that an injured party could bring suit against a drunk driver for punitive damages. His case of Small v. KcKennan Hospital established the right of compensation for the family of a woman murdered by a man on the hospital’s premises.

Several years ago he had the first seven figure personal injury verdict in South Dakota. His advocacy for severely injured people has continued throughout his career. As recently as the summer of 2018, he settled a case for $11,000,000.00 on behalf of a man injured in a trucking accident.

Greg has been instrumental in nursing home reform in the state. His recent verdicts and settlements for nursing home residents who are victims of neglect and abuse have garnered attention both statewide and nationally. Greg is passionate about representing his clients against wrongdoers.

On behalf of his clients, Greg has successfully taken on the US Government, Indian Health Service, State of South Dakota, Department of Transportation, Toyota, Caterpillar, Bobcat, National Nursing Home Corporations, Golden Living Nursing Homes, Walmart, K-Mart, Twin Labs, StarCraft and countless other negligent companies, government entities, and individuals.

Over the years, Greg has represented numerous people in battles to preserve their inheritance in South Dakota estates and trusts. A number of cases also involve determining individual rights in real estate among warring relatives and others.
