Prior to joining Johnson Eiesland Law Offices, Robbie's practice has been focused on representing people charged with crimes. Robbie has represented people charged in both Federal and State Courts - ranging from the most severe felonies (murder, manslaughter, rape, possession, conspiracy, and distribution of controlled substances) to misdemeanors (DUI, poss. of marijuana, simple assault). Robbie Rohl has had the tremendous privilege and continued benefit of mentorship in criminal defense from Randy Connelly - in Robbie's opinion, the best criminal defense attorney in western South Dakota. One of Robbie's most notable achievements in criminal defense is an acquittal at trial defending his client against charges of 1st degree rape, aggravated incest, and sexual contact with a child. If convicted, Robbie's client would have received mandatory life imprisonment. Robbie Rohl believed in his client's innocence and successfully communicated that to the jury. Robbie has also helped shape the status of South Dakota's DUI Law and voluntary consent in a Fourth Amendment context. See State v. Medicine, 2015 S.D. 45. The South Dakota Supreme Court agreed that his client's Fourth Amendment rights were violated and suppressed use of blood evidence as being obtained in violation of the Constitution. Subsequently, the case was dismissed. Robbie has been selected as a Great Plains Super Lawyer Rising Star for his work in the area of criminal defense.
Since joining Johnson Eiesland Law Offices, Robbie has focused his practice on representing people who have been injured. Robbie fights hard to ensure that his clients receive fair and reasonable treatment and he determinedly works to maximize recovery against the accountable parties - usually insurance companies. As a trial lawyer, Robbie prides himself in investing in his clients and will fight to obtain the "just" result. Robbie has obtained several large six figure settlements for past clients since joining the Firm. Robbie also has the tremendous privilege and continued benefit of mentorship from Greg Eiesland - in Robbie's opinion, the best person injury attorney in western South Dakota.
Robbie is committed to continuing his legal education and volunteering for the benefit of his clients, the legal profession, and the Rapid City Community. Robbie has served on the Board of Governors for the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association from 2012 - 2015. Robbie is a Graduate of the South Dakota Trial Academy; a member of the Order of Barristers (Martindale – Hubbel distinction); a member of the South Dakota Criminal Defense Bar; and a member of the Pennington County Bar Association.
